Do you know why those big wig CEO’s wear the same thing every day?

Or why some of their life choices seem so mundane while other choices seem so over the top and lavish?

Have you heard of decision fatigue?

We suffer from it daily…and if I were a betting person, I would say Moms especially have decision fatigue go through it the most.

I was making so many decisions for other people…my clients, my business, my kids, my husband, my animals, my parents, even trying to fit in decisions for my personal wellbeing…SO.MANY. DECISIONS. And it gets exhausting.

I didn’t want to admit that it was A LOT, because I thought I needed to show that I could handle it all, but I couldn’t.

What does this have to do with food?

I made ONE SIMPLE CHANGE and it alleviated SO MUCH STRESS!

Just like the CEO’s wearing the same thing every day, I started making the same protein for the week.

I LEARNED TO BATCH COOK.

Here’s how it works….

You pick one protein and make A TON of it.

And then you have TWO choices.

  1. Eat the same thing all week – I do this for lunch and love it.

-OR-

  1. Use the protein for five different meals during the week.

Here’s my personal example.

This last week I made 8 pounds of 85% beef.

It was technically supposed to be 7.5lbs but I rounded up.

Reminder: It’s me, my husband, my teen, my tween. We are an active family with hearty appetites.

(I have a perfect formula for calculating protein – more on that later)

I then turned it into 5 simple dinners for the week.

  1. Big Mac Attack

  2. Korean Bowls

  3. Black Bean & Beef Enchilada Skillet

  4. Beef Veggie Pasta Bake

  5. Pineapple Fried Rice

(Easier substitutions for this week could also include; spaghetti, tacos, ground beef stroganoff.)

Knowing the protein is taken care of, I only have to prep the simple remaining ingredients. It’s super EAZY PEAZY!

And when I batch cook for lunch, I do pretty much the same thing, but I pick ONE LUNCH menu and eat it all week. I’ve had people balk at me, “Uhg, I could never eat the same thing all week.” Or “How boring and awful to eat the same thing all week!” Here’s the deal, it’s not really boring at all. When decision fatigue is relieved it actually gives you back time and sanity creating a sense of accomplishment. And when you feel accomplished endorphins activate and you function happier. And when you’re happier, you show up better for yourself and those around you.

ALL OF THIS FROM JUST BATCH COOKING!!

Who knew????

I did!

P.S. You don’t have to batch cook every week. I certainly don’t.

But when weeks are coming *at* me, I audible to what works so I can keep my sanity and time in check.
